You can’t swim there anymore and the gift shop hours are unreliable but the blue whale experience was one of my kids’ favorites. The story that goes with is precious.

We drove out of our way on a Saturday evening, arrived at 5:30 PM and it was closed down. Very disappointing.
Park and walk through this unique assembly of sculptures. Definitely a must see when you visit Des Moines. Bring change for the parking meter. Lots of lunch and dinner options nearby. Local tip: If you’re visiting in the summer, food truck vendors gather to serve lunch.
