Nice to have food a few steps away and our beagle liked the dog park. North is directly behind the rig for Starlink users.

We were here for eight nights, and the nights have been quiet without much traffic. The water is very low in the reservoir, so it limits water activities. We have 50 amp service and a good dump station/water on the way in. Overall the campground isn’t bad, but there is nothing in this immediate area. Sterling is the closest town with anything and it’s about 12 miles away. There aren’t many large geographic features to see, but the hiking isn’t bad. The drive in is kind of slow and coming from Route 80, it’s about 35 miles. Cell service for Verizon is pitiful, we can barely get one or two bars with a WeBoost. This is mid-September, and it’s basically Boondocking with 50 amp service.

This park was designed and built for rigs that were smaller and shorter. Many of the turns are very tight and the ground is quite soft. There are many sites with concrete pads for rugs and grills but not for RV parking. The electrical system was a little wonky when we were there, ultimately it worked out fine. Overall, the people running the park are trying to make things better, but it needs investment. Starlink was obscured 12%, was still usable but spotty. We camped at Pioneer Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 14 days starting late July in our 43’ Ventana. We were able to negotiate the park pretty well to our full hookup site. Area W is closer to the lake than many sites with a 5 minute walk to the beach. The campground is very large with 1300+ sites, many of which are seasonal. It seems well run, and has quite a few amenities. Cell service is spotty and slow on all carriers. It’s close to Pukaski for basics, and 35 minutes to Watertown and Syracuse for anything else. There are MANY state parks in the area snd the Thousand Islands is less than an hour away.
