A nice beach. The sand is coarser than the famous Siesta up the island but not a supper hot sand and still nice shells and water access. There is a drop off right as you enter the water, an unexpected step down about 12", but you pop right back up the next step.

Warning-we did not know that there was beach restoration in progress when we went (last week of March 2016) so the beach is full of construction vehicles and it cramps everyone up into the newly restored area. It is supposed to be finished by then end of April 2016 for the sea turtles to nest on in May. Should be lovely when finished.

It is a beautiful beach and one to visit! It is also a trek to cross all the lovely white sand to the water. When we visited it was hard packed sand good for wide wheeled rolling carts or coolers and only near the water did you hit softer sand. Spring break time it is very busy of course but that doesn't mean your experience on the beach itself will suffer. Just be prepared for the long traffic lines across the drawbridge, the expensive food nearby (not fast food), and the debris left behind by all those people. Even though this is a very clean beach you will still find beer bottles, plastic bags, and swifter towels(?!) along the water break. Wildlife nearby and some nice shells to pick up too if that's your thing. 4/5 would go again!
