THE Grand Canyon car camping experience, only accessible to high clearance vehicles such as trucks and Subarus. Only two sites available, and a permit is required. Pack in/Pack Out. Composting toilet available. Hard ground (as is much of the Kaibab Plateau) so tent stakes are useless.

From high atop the Kaibab Plateau, look out onto the Marble Canyon section of the Grand Canyon. This point nearly 8500' MSL looks out towards it and the Painted Desert and other parts of Navajo Land beyond. A bit rocky for your tent, so scout out a spot, as even when I did, I still found a rock protruding into the tent right next to my pad. Made it out here in a 1995 Oldsmobile, but thankfully, it's enough off the beaten path most with a modern car will probably turn back earlier.

Arrived after dark and found quickly there were only three tent sites. Found the unoccupied one. While there’s no pads, the ground is level and takes a stake pretty easily. Great views of the Sangres from the sites. Quiet, though on Memorial Day weekend, the sounds of motorcycles racing up and down the highway in Questa can be heard due to the Red River Motorcycle Rally.

While the view isn’t much, as you’re in a canyon, the stars are amazing!

Nothing fancy, but for the $10 a night needed, it's better than nothing. Sweeping vista views of the Sangre De Christos from your site, and canopys over tables built to prevent prevailing winds from messing with your stay.

Overpriced for what the space you get, in a tent, you're pretty much on the site next to you. The ground is hard packed which made it hard to get the stakes in the ground. The site next to us were sleeping in their SUV, and they were running the motor at night to keep themselves cool.
Showers are nice, but for the price and the crowding, I'd rather stay outside on some HipCamp property and utilize a shower elsewhere that you can use without camping.
