Great little piece of WWII history in this quaint roadside museum. Co located with a a cafe, post office couple of gas stations and plenty of parking. Great place to stretch your legs and walk your fur friends.

The road to the tarmac has degraded to dirt but easily drivable.
Though this base has been abandoned for many years, you will occasionally find it in use by aircraft with vertical take off capabilities.
We were super lucky to find the US Marine Corp performing maintenance and maneuvers!!!
Great little museum located a quick minute off the main road. The museum features an authentic One Room School building, museum and gift shop.
Plenty of parking with room to maneuver trailers or RV’s. You’ll find fun and informative curators, eager to share local history. Clean restrooms are available inside.
Not cost to visit, though donations are excepted.
Nice day use rest area on the California side of the Colorado River. Ample gravel parking, pit toilet, picnic tables and grills all nestled under mature shade trees with Small sandy beach area.
This fun filled family friendly Camp Ground is just a short drive off Route 66 and Interstate 44. The restrooms and showers are a bit dated but work great and kept clean. They offer all sort of kayak, rafting and water sports. Best part is Kelly and the staff are friendly and attentive. We will visit again next time through central Missouri!
