I called to come and camp late and though there was a sign posted that the gate would be open from 6am-10pm, it was closed at 9pm. I tried hiking in to find a spot and all there was was a massive fenced off area with a barking dog and I didn't see any tents erected in the area. I'm sure this place is lovely, but did not seem safe for a solo traveler. Person I spoke to on the phone was super helpful though. Wish the gate had been open as posted. Rates were super affordable, and I had to backtrack to spend five times more on a dirty hotel room in Orange TX
