stayed overnight, just passing thru. camp sites were really tight, no grass. old bathroom facilities but plenty of hot water and water pressure. fair amount of shade trees. BBQ restaurant & Deli/Bakery within walking distance. A lot of ducks gather at a small irrigation stream that goes thru the property. A big plus is that the WIFI was really good that night.
after traveling from florida to hattiesburg
we were looking forward to the pool, unfortunately the pool was overwhelmed with children...based on the balloons, etc adorning the pavilion picnic tables, it looked as though one if the residents was having a party for the kids. no room for a couple of adults who just wanted to relax poolside after a long drive.
theres just one bathhouse and thats on the far side of the pond. facility is dated but clean. WIFI is available at the office building, there is a sitting area..
trash trash trash
this place has interesting history and has drawn folks from around the globe, initially spray paint wasn't part of the plan but it was accepted. then people started leaving trash and spray painting the nearby crops. seriously? now theres lots of trash to walk over. looking at the reviews from three years ago, trash was a problem then....it hasn't gotten any better
huge disappointment, trash and used paint cans everywhere. dont waste your time.
making a reservation here sucks
BUT the park is beautiful, nearby Hinton is a quaint small town to walk around or get necessities at the local grocer. we stayed in the Canyon Campground and thought it yo be the best. you pay for showers ( seriously?) we would stay here again. important note: The driveway in is extremely steep and winding.....
this is worth the stop. is it as great as it once was? no. but a little imagination and you can see kids having a great time in the pond with the whale, tourists stopping by taking pictures having fun... we were lucky enough to run into an older guy who happen to have grown up in the area and remembered blue whale as a kid. He shared some great stories. if you happen to enjoy geocaching, check it out there's a Geocaching hidden on site.
Absolutely worth the stroll over to the park to see this magnificent tree. One can only imagine all the people this tree has provided shade for or all the children that have climbed its graceful branches. Nice quiet park within steps of great restaurants and shops of Safety Harbor.
Stopped here last summer (2016), no one was around so we toured the place on our own. What was once the main house is no longer accessible but there was a lot to look at anyways. Worth taking a short detour off the highway to see & stretch the legs.
Admission was on the pricey side but we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the vintage RVs and trailers, especially some of the clever ideas used in the past. Very clean, take as long as you want to view it all.
This is just a bridge. 500 years ago it may have been a Bridge of the Gods when the bridge was natural. These days it's $3 to cross from Oregon to Washington and another $3 on the return. To add insult to injury, the return toll is paid on the Oregon side and traffic backs up. Don't bother.
