Sitting right in the heart of Sacramento is the California State Capitol Museum, here you can see the best of California’s history as well as its current active government buildings.
You can get a guided tour around the museum as part of a group or you can walk around unaided, whichever suits you better.
The whole building is stated as a museum, but it is the basement and first floor where you will see the most interesting things.

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament is the mother church of the Catholic faith in Sacramento. This means that the church serves nearly one million Catholics and encompasses 99 churches. The cathedral was built in 1887 and has stood proud for all these years, recent renovations have made sure the cathedral continues to serve its people whilst looking spectacular.
The cathedral has an interior dome which is a sight to behold and stands at 34m high, another impressive feature is the 13 foot crucifix that has a 14 foot crown overhead, the weight of the crucifix and crown is nearly one ton.

Windy the day I visited but evidently unknownWendy days you can watch based jumpers off of the bridge. There is also a visitor center near the monument.

Make sure to take a vehicle that doesn't ride low to the ground, as the ruts were pretty deep. The dirt road veers off onto another, rougher road, so make sure you have a map and know where you're going.

Inside the Club 93 Casino are four epic movie prop replicas from various Star Wars movies: Death Vader, a Storm Trooper, Yoda, and even Han Solo in Carbonite! These Star War original trilogy icons have been in the casino since the early 2000s. All props have plaques and are numbered. If you're a fan, it's a great surprise.

According to local news sources, Miller spent over two years planning and painstakingly gluing over 430 pounds of spare change -- mostly pennies -- to create a 300-square-foot mural. He finished on September 15, 2012. A "Wishing Wall" beneath the mural encourages visitors to affix their own pennies. Miller won't say how many pennies he used, but encourages school kids to figure it out.

World's Largest Piece of Driftwood: 13-foot-diameter redwood log may also be the World's Heaviest Wooden Road Sign, serving as a marker for the start of the now-forgotten Winnemucca to the Sea Highway.

A light, tart rhubarb sherbet tops the best-seller list at Coppa, a family-run coffee and ice cream shop. Look for scoops starring Alaska ingredients such as wild blueberries and hand-harvested spruce tips.

A 40-foot-high cedar facade adorned with sculptures by Haida artist Robert Davidson greets all comers at the Sealaska Heritage Institute. Inside, the Native Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian artifacts on display include glass-work, halibut hooks, and masks. Don't miss the Shuka' Hit, a hand-carved clan house featuring a stunning black-and-amber glass screen.

Just a half mile from the capitol building; Cope Park feels a world away. Descend the wooden staircase at Seventh Street and you'll enter a quiet, fir-fringed space. Unpack a picnic, or wind through the forest to go wading in Gold Creek.
