This gallery is a hidden gem in Hutchinson MN. It is a little hard to find on a dirt country road - but worth the drive. Don't miss the sign. The owner, Morgan, gave us a tour including the pottery studio where potters work to create awesome pottery. They create the only pottery that is specially created to use on a stove or grill. They have pottery by several very talented potters. They also have a nice selection of jewelry and glass. Their art jigsaw puzzles are great. If you are in the area don't miss it. It is on an acerage with lakes snd fields that is beautiful and a great location for art shows.
Store is crowded, messy, not arranged attractively for sales. They have a lot of stuff, but no good art. Cheaply made jewelry and clothes. We visited the store on Superior downtown.
The guided tour by college students is wonderful. Very informative. I enjoyed the many innovative things that Chester Congdon has incorporated into the house. He, and his architect, were way ahead of their timewood matched the room and the other side m. The house was finished in 1908 and had: whole home vacuum; furniture and rooms designed dpecifically for each of his children; smoking rooms with special wall coverings to absorb the smoke so the house would not smell; one side of wood door had wood to match the room and the ither side matched the hall; a way to charge an electric car in the carriage house, covered manure in carriage house; 6" of concrete between floors so wood floors would not creak; the wat they got the coal in from London Rd. so no trucks would have to drive into estate and much more. Loved the tour and grounds.
This is one of the least expensive and best hotels we've had on our trip. I was impressed by: having 4 large bath towels rather than 2, having a trash and recycling bin in our room, having the ability to print from my phone or laptop in room to their printer downstairs, having 2 queen beds PLUS a sofa sitting area with coffee table, having reading lamps near the beds, lots of outlets everywhere and lights, 2 USBs on desk, having restaurants that will deliver to my room, having nice large bathroom counter space.
This hotel is in a good location and reasonably priced. Clean, well-maintained, good beds, good breakfast and nice staff. They need to put non-slip mats in tubs. They have a big pool area with kid slides, hottub, sauna, tables and chairs. I found hotel to be quiet although it was not busy.
Cute train going around the restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good service and good food. My husband and I shared the Great Lakes Whitefish Fingers with salad. We also got coleslaw, crackers and garlic butter. All very good. The picture is of 3 fish pieces but an order is actually 6. Nice prople who are very helpful. Good location in Mackinaw Crossing.
Beds are comfortable, clean, well-maintained. The location is great, near Mackinaw Crossing and Shepler's Ferry Dock. Everything else is close. They offer shuttle service to the docks and let you park your car at the hotel for free, rather than paying for dock parking. Wish I would have known before I got dock parking tickets.
It would be nice if customers could store things, such as suitcases, here during their trip to Mackinaw Island, and pick them up on their return. I would feel better having my things stored at hotel, rather than in my car in a big parking lot.
Excellent hotel. Our room had recently been renovated and had several neat pull out shelves. Two in bathroom, one large one between beds, under TV. There was a cabinet with metal pull out drawers that was convenient. Good hot breakfast and bagged breakfast to go. Clean, comfy bed, lots of pillows, pool and hot tub.
They have root beer on draft - yum. Old building with bad acoustics so it is noisy. My husband and I split the ham and cheese pannini with side salad. It was huge and very good. They have booths, bar seating, high tables and regular tables. 3 Tvs. They have a soup bar for $5.99 with 3 soups.
Old needing major renovations of rooms. Room 307 has major water damage of ceilings and wall paper on TV wall. Did have refrigerator that worked well. Ice machine on first floor worked well. Drapes were torn and should have been replaced. Comfortable beds. Nice breakfast room with hot breakfast.
