And if customer service is a priority, the staff was absolutely darling and couldn't be more helpful. When I checked in the guy saw I was wearing a knee brace and upgraded me at no extra charge so I wouldn't have to walk up stairs. How sweet!

You have to have realistic expectations; this is a very old hotel. For the price, it was extremely adequate. It reminded me of staying at my grandma's. Everything's a bit old and worn, but clean and working. The water pressure could be better. Free hot breakfast is very nice, though I ruined my own meal because I forgot to add salt and pepper before heading back to my room lol. Mattress was thick and soft and I slept as well as I do at home. Worth the money.

We're driving to California from Ohio and drove until we were tired, and stopped at the most affordable place we could find late at night. Always a risky gamble on the road, one that could result in bedbugs or worse.

Fortunately this place was an incredibly pleasant surprise. The lobby is modern and clean, the staff friendly and efficient, they have a well equipped workout room (for a mid level hotel. About a half dozen pieces, couple TVs. It's about expectations.)

The free breakfast is WONDERFUL. Not just bagels and cereal, they have a full buffet with sausage and eggs, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, coffee, juice, fruit, toast, just about anything you could think of, really... just WAY above expectations. The room was clean and comfortable and stylish. For the price I was VERY pleased with my choice. The gamble paid off!!

Some cons, lest some think this review is fake: some cosmetic issues. Door numbers slightly askew, wallpaper bubbles in the corners, things like that. Completely superficial. Housekeeping is on point. The whole place was clean as a whistle. Would definitely recommend!!

On our way in I noticed the hall wasn't swept and peeling paint, just a generally shabby appearance. But, I've had a shabby outside hide a fabulous inside in the past, so I wasn't too put off. Until I used the restroom

I have pictures of the RAT CRAP and SOMEONE ELSE'S HAIR that were behind the bathroom door. Tragically, I did not discover this until he had already fallen asleep. But thank GOD he insisted on bringing our own pillows.
Also included are ONE of the holes in the carpet (I didn't feel like photographing all of them nor all the extra spots on a carpet designed to hide spots but they were numerous as were the a places where the wallpaper was peeling), the shrunken, yellowed cover hanging off the ironing board, and the missing bulbs above the sink.
But wait, there's more.

So this morning I go to grab something to eat from the continental breakfast. I already wasn't going to shower there but I figured I'd grab a muffin and didn't want to miss it as it was closing soon. While I was down, I brought my phone and showed the pics of the crap and hair to the lady at the front desk, who blinked at me blankly before finally mumbling an apology and asked me what room number I was in, presumably to reprimand the housekeeping staff. Didn't offer me anything like a discount on a future stay, none of that.

I grabbed my muffin and decided not to take a chance on anything unsealed and went back to the room to finishing packing up. My key didn't work at first but he was sitting right by the door and opened it. I didn't think anything of it because it didn't work the first couple times I tried it the night before.

Half an hour or so later, while we are both only partly dressed, the freaking maid walks in! She said the woman at the front desk CHECKED US OUT! That's why my key didn't work! She didn't ask my room number in order to do anything about the staff leaving hair and rodent crap in the corners (we didn't even take our shoes off in there), she assumed I was leaving, even though she didn't mention it and neither did I. Because I wasn't.

As we're leaving I was thinking of what to rate them when I give my review and I asked him if I should give them a 2 or a 3 on a scale to 5, and he goes "2, because that's how many bulbs are missing," and points above me to light above the sink!
