Chef Greg has created one of the best restaurants in DTJax with Olio. The food is decadent yet very affordable. Some favorites include these award-winning duck grilled cheese (add a fried egg for extra deliciousness), the artful Cobb salad and the shrimp and avocado tacos. My husband loves the steak and cheese sandwich and the shrimp poboy. And of course you MUST get the French fries to split.
The staff is wonderful, the ambiance is light and airy and they always have a good beer selection. Go early (11:30-11:45) to beat the lunch rush, or try their new dinner hours on Thursday and Friday.
I adore this little hole-in-the-wall. I first fell in love with the panko-crusted chicken sandwich, which is spot on, and am also a huge fan of the Waldorf salad if I want something healthy. Can't beat their homemade salad dressing. But my absolute favorite is the westsider done taco-style: buffalo chicken, blue cheese and a cucumber slaw. (You won't find the taco option on the menu, so just ask.)
Excellent prices, friendly staff, killer food- this is the type of place that makes DTJax a foodie's dream.
Worth a trip, adorable stores, nice children's play area, and a group was practicing yoga while we were there. At night, the praying mantis public art put on an awesome show.
