On a recent road trip along the Colombia River, my wife and I decided to take a break from driving and visit what sounded like a very intriguing site. We first stopped in at the interpretive center, which was closed at the time, located a few miles closer to the river then the actual site. Reading the information at the interpretive center made us even more intrigued, as they encouraged us to “reach out and touch” history.
When we actually go to the trailhead and started walking the trails through the “forest”, we found that would be very different then what we expected.
Walking the trails through the rolling hillside was nice, however the actual petrified logs seem to have been locked up for their protection in zoo like cages. Even though it was kind of a let down, we still enjoyed ourselves guessing what was in the next cage.

My wife and I decided to walk from our hotel to downtown Leavenworth, but wanted to stay away from the main thoroughfare. Our stroll took us through Enchantment Park.
The park is broken up in to two main areas. One is a well maintained community area with ball fields, and skate parks. The other is a natural area with paths by the river, and a fishing pod for young anglers. Overall a very pleasant walk, and good activities during the seasons.
