Guests are welcome in this building. Note that the front steps are cement painted to look like marble, and the pillars inside are wood painted to look like marble. A pretty building.

Apparently there are antelope and bison on this island. I didn't see any, but we only drove as far as the guest/welcome center and then turned back. The park is very pretty. It was very dry during our visit (they had a bad wildfire since then) and as you drive to the island it's almost like going through a white desert. The lake itself is very blue and very still. Lovely reflections. The shoreline is swarming with bugs (they didn't bother me) and lots of sea birds enjoying the bugs. The scrub brush along the entrance has hundreds of spiders, I think they eat the bugs too. The roadway leading to the island and the first pull over on the right once you reach the island are quite smelly (it smells like dead things.) But once you get a bit further into the park it is less noticeable. I loved all of the views and would recommend the trip!

Another trail with unique views in Yellowstone. This area is very hot in the summer, so wear a hat and take water. You will definitely feel the elevation if you choose to hike up to the top overlook as the stairs are quite steep. I hiked all the way to the top and unfortunately my main memory is of how hot it was and no significant view at the top. So I recommend walking up to the big "stair stepped" plateau then turning back to go down the other trail that takes you down by Liberty Cap. (That area was my favorite.)

Lots of overlooks from above and below if you're able to walk down a stairway to the base. Misty and lovely!

Another overlook along the Grand Canyon with a closer view of the falls. Very pretty.

Stunning. Simply stunning. I recommend not going at midday, as some shadows will help you photograph how massive this Canyon is. The view of the falls from the Canyon overlook is spectacular. A must-see stop when in Yellowstone!

You guys, the paintpots and geysers here have a lot to say. I went to this trail right after visiting Old Faithful. (OF is epic, don't get me wrong) but this shorter trail packs quite the punch. Lots of unique views in a shorter distance. I loved it. The fumaroles and mudpots were totally different than those in the OF area. And all of the standing water and dead trees give it a kind of creepy vibe. I highly recommend checking out this often overlooked trail.

Morning Glory is just lovely, and I do recommend going midday to see the most colors. The walk from Old Faithful to MG is about 1.5 miles, and I walked it on a hot day. It was worth it, but take some water. There were lots of scenic views and benches along the path to the geyser. I think riding a bike would have been fun, except you can't take a bike on the boardwalk paths. So look at a map and decide if you want to do that or not.
