Wow! The drive up was beautiful but definitely scary at times. It felt like you were going to drive straight into the sky. The view from the top is amazing. I can see why it inspired the song America the Beautiful. I was extremely light headed at the top and had to hold on to my husband several times. Please read the warnings about who should not travel to the top. We took our time going back down and was able to see different wildlife. Some people seemed to be in a hurry so we pulled over at many of the viewing points to let people pass. Part of the fun on the way up was watching the temperature drop!
I read about the stairs but I was still unprepared. We were sore for a week after the climb. It is beautiful. If you don't want to climb they do have a lookout point you can get to by elevator where you can get pictures of the falls.
Plan to spend some time here. It is beautiful! If we go back we are going to do the horse back rides. They get a completely different view of the park. It was neat to see all of the climbers too.
My husband and I stayed in a bunkhouse for 2 nights. It was extremely affordable and clean. Everyone was super nice. The location was central to get to all of the sights we wanted. The RV sites were extremely close but if you are looking for a place to stay at night to reach the area attractions it is great.
