Had a Birthday Cake dipped cone and it was fantastic. Prices are good, two small cones (bigger than Mcdonalds) for $3 which is a steal especially since they were not just plain ice cream. Girl at the window was friendly. Would go back in the future.

Nice little park with cool photo op opportunity. Who doesn’t want to say they’ve seen the Eiffel Tower in Paris?

The National Bird Dog Museum is one of the nicest specialty museums I have been to. Their collection covers everything bird dog related that you can imagine, and the place is massive. On top of a huge collection, they have a library, taxidermy room, and gift shop. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. One of the ladies working got me a water and gave me a tour of the place and the collection, and it was very interesting even to a layman such as myself.

The museum is a 30,000 square foot facility housing the Field Trial Hall of Fame, Sporting Dog Hall of Fame, Retriever Hall of Fame, and the Wildlife Heritage Center.

The Field Trial Hall of Fame displays portraits, photographs, personal belongings, and trophies of the most important figures, both human and canine, that have impacted the sports of field trialing and bird hunting.

The Sporting Dog Hall of Fame exhibits more portraits, photographs, and memorabilia showcasing specific dog breeds - including American Brittany, English Cocker Spaniel, English Springer Spaniel, German Shorthaired Pointer, Irish / Red Setter, Vizsla, and Weimaraner.

The Retriever Hall of Fame casts the spotlight on the various retriever breeds, such as Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and American Chesapeake Retrievers.

The Wildlife Heritage Center consists of a large collection of taxidermy showcasing the wildlife of North America and the and the William F. Brown Memorial Library. The library has an extensive collection of bird dog and game bird literature, a collection of stud books dating back to the 1910s, various periodicals including American Field, and resource material pertaining to wildlife conservation and resource management.

Beautifully restored and preserved home. As a lover of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Work it was a fantastic experience to be able to see the house in person. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and well spoken.

The Forks if Cypress is only open to the public twice a year during the Florence-Lauderdale Convention and visitors Bureau Walking Tours.
This is on a private fenced property.
You can call 256-740-4141 for information.

I tried to stop here on one of my trips to Florence. You can see a little bit of it from the road but you can’t get close to really examine or look at the property as it is in the middle of a fenced in field. I wish I had known that in advance. I would like to go back and take the tour when it is offered.

House tour is about 30 minutes and then you can explore the grounds. Pretty place with a bunch of interesting things to look at. The grounds have one of the few moon trees in existence, and a variety of other plants and displays.

Dated, and run down but a still an interesting place to stop and stretch your legs for a little while. They have a little restaurant, with a variety of options including low carb. There is also a gift shop. Good stop on the way to something.
