A magnificent place, the highlight of my most recent visit to the USA. There's an easy hike (or a long walk!) on the Wildcat Trail that takes you around the West Mitten Butte (on the left in the pic at top of page) in about two hours. Great views of the area that aren't available from the hotel or the organised tours. You can really feel the serenity of this wonderful area. I recommend you do your organised tour with a local guide early in the morning so you miss the influx of tourists and get further into the valley.
