History fans will enjoy this place. It is a well taken care of park, with knowledgeable and helpful staff. When we went it was during the off season (summer) so it wasn't crowded. We also camped on Savage Island, which is located way in the back of the park so you are away from the Fort Tour groups and any noise that comes with that. The camp sites were nice and the bath houses were decent. They also had a vending machine, washer, and dryer on location. They also sell fire wood and have a dump site for RVs. You can also rent canoes and kayaks there.

Also! Make sure to drive all the way up to the light house for parking. It's free at the light house, but you have to pay to park at the Fort/beach.

Awesome place to go see. Make sure you are prepared to make the long climb up the lighthouse stairwell. It wasn't air conditioned (we were there in July) so make sure you take full advantage of the landings for breaks and opened windows for some fresh air. Also make sure you leave your vertigo on the ground because it's a breathtaking view at that height.
