The visitor center is really nice but usually really crowded. I would recommend stopping to stock up on a water and grab a map before you head out though. They have a water bottle refill station outside the building.

We unfortunately only got to spend one hour here. When we come back we will definitely plan for at least 3 hours. It is like a giant maze playground. I would also recommend going in the morning or evening so you can get some really breathtaking views and not get super hot in the process. There is a restroom and picnic area where you park and only a short flight of stairs down to the formations.

It was an interesting place for sure. We went in July and it was hot and the knats were awful. We had to hold our breath when we got out of the car so we wouldn't inhale them. The views were unique though and the wildlife was interesting. We got to see buffalo and antelope. We also ate at the Buffalo grill which was really good.

The park is beautiful and has so many amazing things. Our visit was good but we went in July and there was so many people that it became frustrating really quick. We did enjoy what we got to see but if we go again it would be during a less busy time.

Pompeys Piller was such an interesting and beautiful stop. It is the only surviving outdoor evidence of Lewis and Clark's expedition. You can see Clark's name carved into the stone. The Visitor Center is new and has some interactive exhibits. The trails are well maintained. I would recommend going all the way to the top. The river trail is quick and nice after all those stairs.

Go to the visitor center first. If you get the chance they have a guide that gives you information before you head out make sure you take some time to listen because they really do set the scene. Follow the map stop by stop in order and you won't regret it. I would recommend going in the evening it just seems to add to the experience.

This was definitely one of our favorite stops on our road trip. We went in the evening and the view was spectacular. The geological information was also interesting. Make sure you go to the visitor center first. I would also recommend going left at the fork it seems like it was less steep.

We had a great experience staying here. The owner is very knowledgeable and she has lots of tips for hikes around the area. The tipi was nice and we stayed warm during the night. The views were amazing and our 2 year old thought staying in a tipi was the best. This is simple camping. There is a porta potty for a restroom and you get a lantern, coffee maker, water and dishes. You pay extra for bedding. You are able to see the Devils Tower and it is only about a 10 minute drive away.

It is a small but very informative museum. There are lots of movie props and clothing from the Dances with Wolves film since Kevin Costner funded this museum. We really enjoyed the sculptures and artifacts in the museum. Make sure you watch the film before you go out to see the statues.

It was just ok. It is definitely more of gambling and shopping area rather than historical. It was still a neat town and I think it would have been better if the stagecoaches were running but the Days of 76 Museum is definitely worth a stop. That was probably our favorite part.
