CoCoMoes Adventure Reviews

Pleasant trail from Highway 1 (Big Sur)
You start off your trek from the Andrew Molero parking lot where there’s restrooms and an decent size parking lot. You’ll meander a trail for about ¼ mile with Kool-streams, bridges, and lots of foliage. You then come to an open meadow. It is here were you can camp. There are a couple of restrooms in the meadow area, but no drinking water. If you continue on the trail (west bound) the trail leads down through a grove of Eucalyptus trees then down to the mouth of the Big Sur River. (This is where fresh water meets ocean water) Just before you get to the mouth of the Big Sur River, you will notice a trail on your right. I don’t remember what the small sign read, but this short up-hill trek will take you to a most wonderful place. You will see beautiful landscapes, views, and many awesome sights.

Now let’s trek back to the mouth of the Big Sur River.
Yea baby.., you will need to remove your shoes and wade through the river in order to access the beach on the other side. The deepest point of the middle of the river I found was 2-3 feet deep at the time.
Don’t be a cry baby.., yes be safe, yes the river is wet, yes it is cold, and most times it is extremely windy.

Words of Wisdom.., From CoCoMoe
*Pack snacks..
*Bring Plenty Water. Area does get “HOT” at times.
*Do not drink the park water.
*If you’re camping, when you first arrive, walk to the campsite area and determine what site(s) you want. Return to Check-In at front.(entrance fee office) There is a campsite map posted on the entrance fee office. Check to see what sites are available. Pay for your site, and cross it off the list so someone else take it from you. The campsite is about ¼ mile walk from parking lot. Pack wisely. Minimize your haul.
*There is minimal free parking if you park off the Hwy, 1 be safe, be mind full of highway traffic.
The parking is located before the fire-road gate and before the Molero parking lot turn off. Follow the dirt trail down and west toward the ocean and this trail will connect to the beach trail just passed the campgrounds area.
*Finally.., if you trek to the beach:
Pack two BIG towels or two BIG light-weight blankets.
This beach is not a pristine, glamorous beach that you can put out your umbrella, beach chair, let the children boogie board while you bar-b-que up hotdogs and hamburgers.(type beach) You can try.
What you will find on this beach, Kool looking TEE- PEE structures that people have built from the actual driftwood that has floated its way onto the beach. There are tide pools, plenty of rocks to climb on and wonderfully awesome sights.
*Take your towel or blanket.., place it against the tee pee frame. Let the wind hold it in place for you and Bam.., now you are protected from the blowing wind and sand.
If you walk further down the shoreline there are great views from the headlands and various points along the shoreline

In early August, My daughter texted me; “Dad lets drive to the Grand Canyon and take some pictures”. We drove 10 hours to get to the canyon without knowing what we were going to find. (We have a history of experiencing spontaneous road trips) We arrived at the Grand Canyon Village 10:00am Tuesday morning. We stepped out of the car looked at each other like what do we do now? My daughter suggested we take the Village bus.
The Village (Park) Bus system to the observation areas is clearly the best and easiest way to visit if you’re not sure what you’re plan is for the day, short on time, or seeking to take beautiful pictures or video footage. If you’re plans include hiking the bus can take you to your trail head. The views of the Grand Canyon are beautifully unreal.. My first view of the Canyon made me smile because the view looked so unreal that it seemed like the Canyon was a Hollywood prop. This is definitely a bucket list adventure. If you’re only visiting the Canyon for a couple of days and it can be done then use the Village bus system.
The buses stop every 10-15 minutes so you can hop on hop off the bus as you wish, but the best part.., it is FREE. Happy Trekking from CoCoMoe

Local Guy Ghost Story: It was common knowledge that the Clovis Police 911 system would receive 911 calls from this address even after this place was abandoned for years. During this time period, this site had no electricity, no phone service and the phone wires had been ripped from the walls and the copper scavenged by vandals. An official investigation was conducted by local phone and PG &E Companies into the 911 calls coming from this site and the final conclusion was determined as "911 system errors". There is no possible way those calls came from this location"
