Great selection lots of quality. Can stay busy as long as you like. Pay attention to prices, some are high as heck and some expect to be negotiated with.
This isn’t the best view I have seen by far, BUT, if you aren’t an avid hiker and want to see something pretty cool without selling children, buying equipment and hiking a day, this is your stop. $5 for a day use pass to park. .3 mi (across the highway) down 70 flat rock stairs, and you are there. 10 min out, 30 min oohhh ahhhh 10 min back, let’s go eat. Haha! There are 2 view areas on the way down, and a spot at the bottom. No hurry, nice and easy 1 hour event good for all ages. Just note the stairs. About 120 feet down and back up.
Pretty interesting. Admission was a little high, I forget...$20 a head? 10 ft ladder to climb the last 10 feet. Lots of stairs. Not hard, but if you don’t like stairs, don’t do it. Kind of narrow spiral
Stair case. Be sure to go down and across the street and read about Fort Story if you are a history buff. The French fleet intervened right here in this bay and engaged the Brit’s during the American Revolution. It may very well have been the one thing that turn d the tide for the American rebels.
Called The Pigeon River Inn. Perfect for my wife and I. Found it on Hotels.com. $60. Done. No frills, small pool. Limited basic breakfast, clean, welcoming, not a 5 star hotel. Perfect balance of value- what you get for your money. Location is perfect.
