Easy to pull in with a trailer, very nice camp host, Electrical hook-ups and a nice warm shower house that was very clean and free. Great overnight option when driving I80 cross country. Safe and easy in, easy out access. Great price too.
Love this campground. The Park Rangers are so nice and helpful. The Camp Host was super nice and very accessible. The dunes hike to the beach is very easy and the beach is huge. I love staying here when I travel up and down the coast. This is a good halfway point between SF and LA. Clean, quiet and close to the beach and 101 Freeway.
Good stop for dry camping overnight. The lot is owned by the county not the casino. It is directly across the street from the Iron Skillet/ Almo Casino and in front of the hotel lot. So you don’t need permission from the casino it stay in the dirt/gravel lot.
The Iron Skillet has a soup and salad bar that you can add to your order for just $5. They open at 6am for breakfast and the donut shop opens earlier.
The lot was nice and quiet even with a good size group of RV’s and Truckers overnighting there. The train was nice to hear and far enough away that you only hear the whistle. I didn’t hear road noise at all from I80.
Night temps were below freezing and day temps in the high 60’s in October 2019.
