Here is a Microdose of Americana: Meet Tex Randal, formerly "Texas' Biggest Texan.” Built in 1959 and refurbished, renamed and relocated but here he is in Canyon, TX ready for all those selfie’s. Yes, we are back on the very Kitschy Route 66. Apparently he is no longer the biggest Texan, but he is huge! 47 feet tall built of seven tons of cement and steel. #RoadTripRiley

Great place to stop and stretch your legs - great for traveling with pets, lots of grass and plants.

This monument is well worth the stop. It’s not often that a women is the subject of a public statue, and in this case it is a women of color. And what a women she was. I was moved by what I read and saw at this memorial and so proud of the Battle Creek community for celebrating this historic resident. I went online to learn more about Sojourner where I rad that as a once enslaved person, she walked to freedom with her baby in her arms. This before then becoming the beacon of truth and compelling preacher for the abolitionist movement. Sojourner Truth - what a great person. She made an impact. The quirky stone press nearby is something to see as well!

This was a great stop to stretch our legs and let our dog Riley get some fresh air. The park is really clever - turning old iron bridges into works of functional art as you stroll around this pretty marshy park on the banks of the river. What an imaginative use of this land and these old bridges. Really glad we stopped!
