This is a perfect place for beginning kayaking and canoeing. The creek is very low during the summer so I look at the water level on Americanwhitewater.org and click the national river tab. For the lightweight I would recommend a minimum water flow of 350-400 cfs. For all others a minimum level of 450-500 cfs. I believe the water level is measured every 4 hrs. This is a beautiful scenic river where the sound of vehicles and city/towns disappear. The state park has plenty of picnic areas and historical buildings. Hiking trails are also available.
