Lake Lurleen is a nice Alabama State Park. It is the victim of decades of underfunding by the state, but the people who run it have definitely done the best they can with the resources given. Our site was right on the water and we were able to push the kayaks in right there. The site itself could have been a bit more level. The bathrooms were worn but very clean. There were lots of trees and shade and your typical fire pit and picnic table. There was lots of room to spread out and relax. We really enjoyed the peaceful weekend (except for noisy neighbors). One thing to note: although it says online and on pamphlets that check out time is 2:00, it is actually 11:00.

We arrived after dark on a Friday night and had no trouble finding our site. The campsite was spacious and almost at the end of a cul-de-sac so it was very quiet. We really enjoyed views of the water and the very clean multi level site perched on the bluff. Sites 36-40 are situated after a sharp hairpin turn and seemed to be a tighter fit for larger rigs. We have a 15’ trailer so we had no issues. I would definitely camp here again!
