Muncho Lake Provincial Park

Muncho Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located on the Alaska Highway as it transits the northernmost Canadian Rockies west of Fort Nelson. Spectacular folded mountains, bountiful wildlife, brilliantly coloured wildflowers are just some of the wonders to discover. The park is part of the larger Muskwa-Kechika Management Area. It is named after the Muncho Lake, which is a part of the park. Muncho comes from the local Kaska aboriginal name meaning 'big water.' Muncho Lake is very picturesque with its deep aqua-green coloured waters next to impressive backdrop of mountains. You will find the lake absolutely stunning as you travel along Hwy 97. Definitely a real jewel, Muncho Lake is approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) long and well worth the time to visit. Take a boat trip or take a good hike in the mountains with a fascinating view to the Lake. Here you will surely see some dall sheeps on the surrounding rock peaks. If you like hot water, just a few minutes north of the Provincial Park can be found the Liard Hot Springs.
