Log Cabin General Store

The Log Cabin General Store is an iconic General Trading Store serving Bicheno and the wider East Coast Community and holiday makers, as a one stop shop for homewares, hardware, and giftware essentials. In 1978 the Log Cabin Store started as a dream and labour of love for young Bicheno couple Kevin and Sharon Gray. They had a vision of a general trading store that would serve the community and provide a local resource for the region that provided essential items with good old country values and service. Drawing on the traditions and heritage of the region they decided to build a log style cabin and with the help of Kevins' parents Arthur and Claire spent tireless hours crafting and building the structure by hand. Finally, on August 19, 1978 The Log Cabin Store opened its doors to the public. The Log Cabin evolved into the hub of the community with the Gray’s always behind the counter happily serving the town and supplying all manner of essentials and trinkets. Eventually after 41 years Kevin and Sharon retired and after a small facelift the Log Cabin re-opened as The Log Cabin General Store. Today travellers and locals can continue to shop at the Log Cabin and in 2020 the business expanded opening an official website enabling everyone to participate in the Log Cabin experience.
