“One of the seven botanical wonders of the world!”
Situated on the Eastern slopes of Cape Town's Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is internationally acclaimed as one of the seven most magnificent botanical gardens in the world, and one of Cape Town's Big 6 tourism attractions. The estate, covering 528 hectares, includes a cultivated garden and a nature reserve. The developed garden (36 ha) displays collections of southern African plants including many rare and endangered species. Kirstenbosch is one of a country-wide network of nine botanical gardens administered by the South African National Biodiversity Institute.
The Centenary Tree Canopy Walkway is an enchanted treetop walkway that takes you on a twisting and curving journey through Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Made with curved steel and wood, the walkway was inspired by a snake's skeleton. Specifically, a 'Boomslang' tree snake. It's a low-impact walk that takes you on an aerial tour above the treetop canopy, with a breathtaking 360 degree vistas of the mountains, Garden and Cape Flats. It's also wheelchair-accessible.
A beautiful place and right in the center of cape town. During the summer months, they have a concert series that is not very expensive and brings in killer acts. Perfect place to celebrate life, hear good music and be part of nature.
