“a town stuck in the 70s”
Yellow Springs is a small face-to-face community; a village of just under 4000 cosmopolitan residents where you can choose to be as well or little known as you please. If you want to find a chess partner or learn an obscure foreign language just post a note on a downtown bulletin board or run a personal ad in the Yellow Springs News and someone will appear to fill your wish.We sport a thriving art and music colony including one of only two art cinemas in the area and a nationally known chamber music series. We are surrounded by magnificent natural beauty in John Bryan State Park, Glen Helen Nature Preserve and Clifton Gorge State Park. Active outdoors people can hike, jog, bicycle, or ride horseback right from their front door. There are 120 arts, religious and special interest organizations to enjoy or ignore and educational opportunities from sunrise to sunset.A microcosm of political perspectives and individual personalities, this community celebrates its diversity and opportunity for personal growth.
I grew up exploring many of the ins and outs of Ohio and this is by far my favorite city in the entire state. It has a little taste of everything for everybody - restaurants for meat lovers or vegans, lively street life or peaceful hiking trails, really just an amazing place. Filled with so much art, music, culture, and some of the nicest people I've ever met! While you're there I absolutely recommend checking out Sunrise Cafe - can get a little pricey, but the food is some of the best I've ever had, and they have tons of options for vegetarians and vegans too!

I've been visiting here regularly for the 11 years I've lived here and I love this town. It gets a bad rap because of the "hispters" or "hippies" that frequent this place, but if you keep and open mind, this town has a lot to offer. Great food, amazing art, and everyone is extremely friendly albeit a bit eccentric.
Spunky and funky little town. Makes for a fun, short visit!
