Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 02, 2020Black Lake Campground sits on the shore of Black Lake and is the only development on the lake making for a wonderfully peaceful location. About half of the sites are on the lake (some with a short walk through the woods from your site), though the shore may be a bit steep in some areas. The sites are all in the trees with plenty of shade and most of them are quite large with plenty of space for a large trailer and several cars. With one exception, all of the sites are screened from each other by trees and bushes. The exception is sites 13 and 15 which connect via a grassy area at the back. If you choose one of these 13 is best because 15 is small and requires the use of the grassy shared area. To make up for this, those two sites are at the small beach. While there are two boat ramps at the campground, there was limited motorboat traffic as the lake is too small for water skiing, so it is mostly fishermen as well as paddlers. It is a very nice calm lake. Don't forget about the 4-mile trail that circles the lake from the campground. It's a lovely walk through the woods.
There are a mix of reservable and non-reservable sites here. Most of the waterfront sites are reservable and were taken on the weekend while we were there. During mid-week (in July) the campground was nearly empty and you could get a few nights on the water.
A few notes on facilities. Water is via a handpump and there is no dump station here. Didn't visit the bathrooms but imagine they are vaults.
As far as mobile service, I was able to get a Verizon signal at the beach, but no where else in the campground.

Needs some sprucing up, but still very nice. Pretty much exactly what the other review says. Any fish you catch are very small.

This National Forest Campground is well laid out with lots of separation between sites. Many sites are close to the lake. Dry camping with vault toilets that were clean and stocked with supplies. There is a hand pump for water. Most of the sites can be reserved through the Federal Web Site. Midweek was quiet with few campers. Most of the sites were posted as reserved on the coming weekend.
