Easy to get to, good electric, water & WiFi, and clean bathrooms. Sites are not huge but OK. On some sites you can't get satellite but they have cable. Friendly staff. For us it was a Great place to base and tour Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown.

Usually when we go out with our trailer, the campground is basically the "destination." In this case, the campground was a place to park our "mobile motel room" so we could explore the area and do a day trip to the beach.

This was our first time staying where full hookups were standard, and we had a pull-through site on a level concrete pad. A picnic table was provided, and a metal "fire pit" will be delivered to your site if requested.

There was decent space between the sites, though of course not like what you find at a state park!

But speaking of which, American Heritage RV Park is just 4 miles from York River State Park. After getting set up, we went there and we highly recommend it for nature lovers. The campground is also close to Colonial Williamsburg, and a little over an hour away (depending on traffic) from Virginia Beach and First Landing State Park.

The bathrooms were clean, showers had hot water, and the campground was very quiet. A train comes through the area a couple of times a day (and night), but we didn't find that to be a problem.

It's close to I-64 (easy on/off) and easy to find, though the actual road INTO the campground is pretty narrow.

We chose to stay here instead of one of the campgrounds in VA Beach just because traffic in and around VA Beach is crazy. Seriously. I felt much better about just driving there with my car instead of towing the trailer through that mess.

We didn't check out the pool, but it seemed nice and we saw people swimming. Some folks we met said they'd been there a week.

Be sure to ask about AARP, Good Sam, AAA, or other memberships you have because they'll give a 10% discount when you check in. While it was the most expensive place we've stayed so far, compared to an oceanfront motel room at VA Beach, it was a very good deal. We'll probably stay here again in the future.

Would NEVER recommend this park. Mean people in office, NO events, NO fun. Don’t understand the good reviews (which is why we came) we love friendly, active campgrounds with friendly helpful staff. This is NOT it!

The ONLY negative I can think of is the road coming in to the campground off rt 60...it’s small. I drive an 18 wheeler and am very comfortable with sticky situations, so take that for what it’s worth. When I say small, I don’t mean fall off the side of the road, but what I do mean is if another large trailer was coming out while you’re coming in, or vice versa...you’d be screwed. Pretty sure you’d both fit, but depending on what part of the road you met, you may be taking some branches with you. Your best bet is stay in the center of the road as much as you can, as it’s only about a 1/4 mile long, so not long enough to be a big deal if no other large traffic. The rest of the camping experience couldn’t have been better. Super friendly staff from check in to grounds keeper. I’ve heard of some horror stories of early check-in turn away. Not here...they just smiled and said it was no issue...come on in. This was a winter season stay, so mileage may very on that. Anyway, highly recommended park...about 6 miles from outlets (which is why we came). Time well spent!

We showed up on a Thursday and left on Sunday. Was a great place to stay. Can't remember the price, my wife booked it. From here, we did day trips to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Both are short drives from this campground. We stayed at a premium site (it was the only thing available when we booked) and I'm glad we did. Big, easy to back into concrete pad. No side to side leveling required. Full hookups at the site with cable available at every site. Quality wifi and a very nice bath house (3 shower stalls - clean and air conditioned, with fully closing doors with a small dressing area and good water pressure). Our site had a nice table with an umbrella and chairs, an outdoor wood fireplace and a grill (with attached cleaning brush). Best part - nothing was broken or non-functional! My only drawback was that there is not a dump site on the property. To me, that means I can't use my black tank flush (because I WILL NOT hook up the potable water to it). However, I'm sure someone has, so I make sure to clean the spigot before I hook up my potable water.

We spend 4th of July 2020 here, our site was in the newer section so didn't have trees really between the sites and no shade. But we were in the back corner so we had a view of the untouched forest and no other campsites - so that was neat! Our son enjoyed the pool. We didn't take advantage of any of the other amenities. The staff was great, they brought a fire ring and set it up when we requested one.

This is a great spot and we are returning customers. The campground is clean with concrete level spots. Easy hook ups. Bath houses are very clean. The wifi works great, even for streaming. Verizon cell service was good as well. Friendly staff. Great location for getting to Colonial Williamsburg as well as Busch Gardens.

We had one of the premium spots, and it was nice, but I would not purchase it again, the difference was not worth it in my feelings, The trains may bother you depending on where they park the diesel for the night. Our first night I could feel the rumblings of the parked train, but we only heard it other nights as it passed by. The park overall was very quiet, and nice. I would not get the premium site again, but everything was in great shape. The restrooms were great and well maintained. Some of the pads were in need of some maintenance, but ours was nice. The staff was great, and always very responsive to any issues. The entrance road is a little small so be prepared and the sign is a little hidden, once you see the no u-turn/dead end signs make sure to stop as its that road before. Has great access to many of the local attractions. Wi-Fi is great and super fast.

We chose this park due to it’s convenient location to all that Williamsburg has to offer. The sites are small but not cramped. If you have a medium sized trailer (32’ +) you will likely need to park your tow vehicle in the overflow lot. The pool is large and clean. There is a nice, well maintained nature trail that loops around the back. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathroom and showers are clean. The wifi is strong enough to stream netflix and hulu (at least sun to thurs-writing this on Thurs night). Neighbors are friendly without being overly intrusive. About 1/2 the park is shaded with most being pine trees. We didn’t get a premium site.

The staff is super nice & helpful. From the reservation process to check-in, we were very pleased with our interactions.

Big rig friendly. We have a 40’4” Solitude and had no problem maneuvering our way to & from our spot. Our spot was on a small incline, which barely allowed us to park our truck. Not sure if the truck would have fit better parked in the back next to the camper but then we couldn’t use our outdoor kitchen, so we just put the tailgate down and pulled in front of the camper.

We did not pay for the upgraded premium site. we were happy with our decision. It would not have been worth it for us. Our site was pull through with zero shade. The way the sun hit us, not even our awning helped, but we had great weather most of the trip so it didn’t matter. The sites do not automatically have a “fire ring” I use that term loosely bc you have to request them be delivered to your site & they don’t look like any fire ring I’ve ever seen. They are more like large metal buckets but it got the job done.

The pool was not open during our stay. We didn’t use the mini-golf. We went to the pirates golf not far down the road instead. The arcade was small. Most of the games were off or broken. But I’m sure any kid could spend some bucks & get some enjoyment. We brought our own entertainment (arts/crafts, games, bikes, etc) & kept busy at our site.

The office/camp store was cute. It had some basic necessities and did not seem to be outrageously priced like some other campgrounds, which was nice.

Yes there is train noise but it wasn’t really that bad. It did not bother us at all. In fact, we were glad we chose this campground bc another local campground is literally NEXT to the tracks.

We stayed almost a week (Monday - Saturday). Several people came through during that time for a night or 2. Lots of nice people & kids running around.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay at this campground again.
