Our Take

A visit to this incredible resort feels a bit like being on a cruise ship, but in the middle of the beautiful West Virginia mountains instead of on the open sea. Even if you only spend a day here, there are lots of ways to relax and enjoy the historic property: You can take advantage of the gorgeous golf course, hit up the casino, or take a tour of the recently declassified nuclear bunker. Yes, you read that right. Whatever you do, make sure to enjoy a meal here… the chefs really know their way around a steak.

This was probably a great place in its heyday but now has the Dirty Dancing - end of movie vibe. The rooms are terribly expensive. We had a 500$ per night cottage that really seemed equivalent to a motel, not a 5 star resort.

This looked like fun, but upon closer research decided it wasn't worth the cost. $30/person is pretty ridiculous.

Great if you are there for golf… other than that they have pools, shops and a spa on site. There was small casino but the restore was so expensive I don’t think anyone wanted to gamble away the rest of their money. Overall, a good place but it comes with a high price.

We did the bunker tour and loved it! The tour guide was very well informed and the tour went through many different parts of the bunker. After the bunker, we were able to walk around the resort itself, even though we were not staying there. It was beautiful! Parking was pretty confusing, and quite a walk from the parking lot to the hotel since we weren’t staying there and didn’t know where to go for the shuttle. But great experience!
