“Nature in Wells, NV”

The elevation is 6,800 ft. The campground, located on a grass-covered foothill of the East Humboldt Mountain in stands of tall, mature Aspen, is composed of two unnamed loops. The first loop has shorter parking aprons and more shade then the second, lower loop. The campground is convenient to Wells, NV for a cook's night out. Not as high as the nearby Angel Lake campground, vistas of Clove Valley are limited, but views of the northern stretch of Ruby Mountains, are magnificent.

CAUTION: Turn left at the Angel Creek campground sign. If you go straight you will be on a one way ticket to Angel Lake and it is pretty scary up and down this mountain pulling a trailer. But the road to Angel Creek campground isnt steep and easy to navigate.

About 20 mins from I-80, semi-private sites $17-$32 a night depending on single or double occupancy; carry in carry out; no hook ups for campers; free range cattle, magnificent views, pet friendly; pit toilets; great spot.

This campground is up in the foothills above Wells. Since it's a National Forest campground, there are no amenities besides vault toilets (which were very clean!) and available water. The sites themselves are quite large, though the parking pads are small -- our 28' Airstream barely fit, and we had to unhitch and park our tow vehicle quite far away, in the entrance station parking lot. It can also be a challenge to get level.

On the plus side, the site we had was very private with a gorgeous view; we couldn't even see any other sites from ours. It was quiet, with no sound but the yipping of coyotes and the wind in the trees. We couldn't stay longer because cell service was too spotty.

Really peaceful and quiet. We camped here on 4th of July on our way from LV to Oregon and though many sites were in use, it remained very quiet and secluded. There is a decent amount of space between the sites and no off-road recreation vehicles buzzing around. When we arrived, our site had a reservation sign for someone else, but the camp host was super nice about it and said it was just a mistake they had made when writing out the card. We had a lovely view of the mountains from the front of the site and the valley and hillsides from every other direction. It was a little pricey considering there are no hookups and no dump station. The price is $15, but when reserving online there is a $10 transaction fee. We still really enjoyed it though. One hiccup we had was that we followed the directions according to Google Maps and it led us to the driveway of a place called Ruby Mountain Brewing - where there was a sign that said "YOUR GPS IS WRONG. TURN AROUND. STAY OUT." Lol. So we drove into Wells and followed the directions from the website to Rt 231. We drove a good 20 minutes out of our way, so take heed and don't not follow your GPS. Very, very little cell service. My Verizon phone alternated between 1x and no service.

There isn't much here. Great vistas at this location, so I wondered why this place is not used much. Bottomline... there isn't much here and a few miles off the freeway. Personally, I love this place, but I can see why people wouldn't find this an ideal site for a destination. This is a dry camping location, but there are vaulted toilets and water available. I didn't see a dump station or water station, just water via spigot by the bathrooms. I recently stayed here late Spring, so I wouldn't know how the weather would be during the warming months.

Note: The cost of the sites are $15 / night, but if you use their reservations, it will cost you a $10 service fee for each reservation per night. Meaning, if you want to reserve any site, it'll be $25. Otherwise, you just show up and take what is available. This is why I'm listing it as $25/night.

Overall, I thought this was a well maintained campground where the sites are far enough apart for privacy and there are amazing views. Note, you will have to travel some steep grades and dark as inside a cow if you're going to arrive at night (not recommended). I would also check their website for any RV size limitations. There was some larger sites, but I don't believe there was many considering there are only like 12 sites. We had a 35 ft Class A and it just fit. Their size recommendations are pretty close with very little latitude.

Beautiful small campground near Wells, Utah. My 38footer and Jeep easily fit in site. Campground host was very accommodating and helpful. Cost was $17/night with NPS senior pass.

Great spot, originally was gonna find disperse camping but decided to check if there were any open spot and was pleasantly surprised to find one just before sunset. Fee is $17 cash only for solo. I had a $20 bill and had to fork over the three extra bucks because they didn’t have change. Firewood is available for like 5 or 6 bucks. Each site has a fire pit, bench, a spot for a car, and a spot for a tent. There are bathrooms (no sink). They’ve got some running water as well.

stopped one night here on our way thru nevada. arrived around 7pm and there were still quite a few spots available. we were in spot #18, which is apparently usually booked. it was gorgeous and pretty level, tucked away from other sites in an aspen grove. the campground is pretty minimal with vault toilets and a water pump. google maps tried to take us up a crazy dirt road that connected to 231, it’s pretty obvious when you see it, but don’t take it and go a bit further and there are signs for angel lake. we had no issues in our ‘92 camper van. we loved it and would absolutely stop here again.

We needed a place for the night and thought Alamo Casino was awful! So, drove the 8 miles out of town to this beautiful campground. Aspens everywhere with pretty views. We were the only ones in the campground, including no host (Monday night in late September). Sites were mostly level. Bathrooms were open and there was water. We had 1-2 bars ATT

About 8 miles of the main highway. Easy drive for our little Tacoma. Its quiet, there are aspen trees, views of the mountains and million stars at night.Air Smells foresty and fantastic! We saw rabbits, an adorable family of quail, and possibly a marmot on the way ip to see the lake.

I only got 1 bar of ATT.
The vault toilet was very clean!

Campendium said $0 but there is a camp host and a $17 fee.
