“An Acknowledged "Supernatural Phenomena"”
For years the residents of Watertown, NY have whispered of a strange location in their local park - a location, when if approached at the right time, will make you disappear, only to reappear later. Well, usually.. according to some, there are those who don't make it back. While this sounds like a fun urban legend, the city of Watertown has recently come out and acknowledged the strange tales. They've even put up a warning sign to help visitors remain cautious while in the vicinity of the "supernatural vortex". If all of this wasn't weird enough for you, get this - the codename for Nevada's infamous Area 51? Watertown. Turns out that the head of the CIA, Allen Dulles, was a Watertown native. Spooky. If you want to check out the portal for yourself, head to Watertown's Thompson park and look for the big sign with an alien on it. Just be sure to say your goodbyes in case you get blinked into another dimension..
While a huge chunk of Thompson Park is considered "the vortex" (and some, including local witches, say it can move around), those looking to grab their photo op with the big "Area 51" sign should check near the entrance to the Thompson Park Zoo.
You have to get out of your car to find it. If you’re in the parking lot for the zoo, facing the zoo, it’s to the right inside the gate. There is a small green alien like sign on one of the trail heads. Follow that. You have to walk one of the trails to see it
.
It’s tricky to find. Follow the signs to the zoo. Next to the zoo parking lot, on the same side of the road as the zoo, you’ll see a large picnic area under a lot of trees. In the middle of the picnic area, you’ll see a large picnic pavilion labeled “Rotary Pavilion”. The picnic area has a paved fitness trail running along the perimeter. It’s one of those trails with various stations where you can do pull ups, balance exercises, etc. Park and start walking on the fitness trail. The sign is located at the far end of the fitness trail. If you walk the trail, you can’t miss it.
We finally found it. Location wrong on Roadtrippers. Asked a local for directions.
Went there, could not find the sign anywhere!!!
Start at the entrance to the zoo, turn to your right and follow the zoo fence. Where the fence does a 90° left turn, stop and look across the field in front of you and a little to the left and you will see the sign.
Well...unless my watch and calendar are off, we went in and the vortex spit us out 4 minutes later. Maybe it’s just me.
Whent there just because of the supposed vortex last summer. Didn't find it but got a picture of the sign lol. It's a nice big park. We enjoyed walking around.
Couldn't find the sign, found New York State zoo instead, so awesome got the kids . Thompson park had a gray playground, look out points as well and picnic areas
This is all created by a old nutcase satanic worshiper who many people have seen go up there claiming about the vortex, She was seen many times and even left behind a pewter earn goblet where they cut up animals , was her and 2 other guys doing it. There is no vortex, what is there has been proven throughout the years in regard to the iron deposits, quartz crystals in the limestone rocks along with copper combined they create electromagnetic fields that can cause you think of time lapses or disorientation. The other thing anyone can take a cell phone, compass anything electronic even a EMF detector that is used for testing circuit boards not for ghost since that is its real use anyways up there and you will get allot of issues such as different polarities in the compass, even radio waves and cell phone frequencies waves from RF transmitters are blocked and or distorted. all the lime stone in that park and around the entire higher elevations outside Watertown are loaded with iron cores combined with quartz crystals. Just search Herkimer County New York just the other side of this area and they mine quartz diamonds. Even one guy found 1 the size of 10x20 inches in the Black River about 25 yrs ago and had it displayed in his computer shop he use to have under the old Woolworths what later became Stream.
