This small campground has 9 sites (not 10 as shown). The sites are well separated along a loop road. There is a cement block vault toilet building. But no water (pumps have been disabled). It is heavily wooded.
The sites are uneven and have a very short asphalt parking pad which are NOT level. It is designed for tent camping and nothing over 22 feet can even park. We found a clean site but there is lots of trash. Site 9 had 2 full trash bags left which the bears had strewn all over.
Sign say there will be a $12 fee starting in 2020.

Wolf Gap is a well-maintained free campground. There’s no electric outlet or water tap, but the price is right and there’s a big parking lot. Campsites are available as first come, first served, so don’t hesitate to set up camp. The only issue I’ve experienced is the birds are very loud late at night and early in the morning.

We brought a 15' trailer for winter camping. The loop is one-way and narrow. We had to drive the wrong direction so that we could back into a site, otherwise there was no room to turn around. The trailer fit into the pull-in and we were able to fit our vehicle as well. The site we selected had a path to the toilet, a nice level pad for tents, a picnic table, and a fire ring. The trailhead was close. We would stay here again in the future.

Stopped in here to check off another park and found it to be better than I expected. It has great hiking. Campsites are made for tents (with well made tent pads), but I was able to park my 21' van in site #1 with ease. Other sites would have worked but some did seem smaller. I don't think a pull behind camper could work here.

10 clean campsites with very short parking areas. We were able to level our 20 ft van in site #5. 2 great trails leave from the campground.

I drove all the way up to Wolf Gap based on an earlier review. I arrived at 3pm, with plenty of sun remaining.
Unfortunately, it seems the place is being frequented by "not your average camper" these days, but rather the kind that stay for 30 days at a time (not your average boondocker either). There is a board where campers are instructed to leave their information. I read the cards there. 3 of the 4 were solo and noted 30 day stays. One had written a rather strange note in the comment section of his card. As a solo camper, female, I did not consider the situation comfortably safe. So I went to a hosted campground close by, on the other side of the freeway. Note: on the board the USFS had posted a notice that they are considering a $14 per night fee. I think it is a good idea. . . a volunteer host plus a small fee would be worthwhile.
