“built in 1903!”
The Ryan Hotel was built in 1903 and served as a residential hotel for the miners. It was renovated in 1933 after the famous Tabor Fire next door. Whether your destination is Wallace or somewhere else down the road, let us provide you with a full concierge service as part of your Ryan experience - whatever it takes to make your stay pleasant and memorable, we are here for you. The Ryan is located upstairs at 608 Cedar Street, halfway between Tabors Drug Store and the Idaho State Liquor Store, across from the Oasis Bordello Museum.
WOW! ...If you're looking for a Holiday Inn, Wyndham or Marriott... keep on looking. But if you would like to step back into time (early 1900's) and experience something special, this is it! This entire town was preserved on the Historical Registry (including the Ryan Hotel) keeping it from being bulldozed when Interstate 90 was built. Hence... The freeway that is now on stilts over part of the city. The town is full of antique shops and the Ryan Hotel has a great share of them also, throughout all the rooms and more!
Please overlook the original sink that remains here or there that doesn't have a perfect finish. Forgive them if your bedroom only has one electrical outlet. Instead, enjoy the beautiful carpeting, antique furniture and elegant and unique bedrooms from a time which once was.
We heard from both the host and a restaurant downtown that large groups rent this place. We can see why. We loved it and plan on returning with friends. Slow down and take a trip back in time while you still can.
Clean, historic. Furnished with antiques, new carpet and apparently a ghost in full naval uniform who has appeared to some guests. Rooms have private bathrooms (tiny) with vintage sinks in room. Great to stay right in the heart of this historic mining town (especially after so many bland generic corporate motels during our road trip). $85/night
