Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on March 31, 2024I had to lay up in Virginia Beach for some auto repairs. While in the area I chose this place because of its convenient location and because the First Landing State Park was closed for winter.
The acreage of this place is impressive. They offer every campsite option you could imagine including tent spots and cabin rentals. I chose a basic, dirt, pull thru spot with water/electric/sewer and picnic table for $35/night (off season rate). They offered a Good Sam discount which I appreciated. If you spend a few extra bucks for cable hookup they put you in a nicer area with concrete pads and grass. The ammenities are plentiful including multiple swimming pools, an excellent off leash dog park,mini-golf, propane refill and a laundromat. My experience was unremarkable but adequate. I was excited to try out the shower house after seeing some very nice pictures on their website. Much to my chagrin, it was a filthy wasteland that hadn't seen the likes of a sponge or mop in weeks.
One last thing you should know... The Oceana jet air base is right next door so be prepared for some very loud, Top Gun shenanigans overhead throughout the day.

Large family campground a few miles from Virginia Beach's boardwalk area. Has all the amenities that you would expect at a family resort in VB. We stayed during the off-season, so most of the activities were closed (pools, store, trolley to beach, etc.). We received off-season rates, but still seemed expensive, but all the public RV parks are expensive in VB. There are different areas in the campground, offering varied levels of amenities, site spacing, paved vs. gravel pads (and cost). WIFI was good, but we were located close to office. Laundry was excellent. Overall park condition was well-used, but acceptable. The management is very friendly and helpful. This would be a great place to let the kids run wild in the summer. Lots of Navy jet fighter noise from Oceana air station nearby (consider it the sound of freedom and enjoy the air show). Overall, we think it was a good stay. Largest negative was the high price. Would return.

Our family of 6 really enjoyed our stay here. The per night price was prior to our Good Sam discount. Pets are allowed and there’s a great off-leash dog park on the premises. Take a bike! The park is huge and you’ll need it! Lots of amenities; 4 swimming pools, tons of playgrounds. Our kids weren’t bored. Ever. The bike path to the beach is flat and fairly easy to follow. It’s 3 miles one way, but we’ll worth the exercise! Our youngest is still on training wheels and only got a little sideways right in the park where you can see the roots under the paved pathway. Overall this was a great trip and I’m sad we couldn’t stay longer. We’re planning a week next summer.

This isn't for full timers but it's a great get away. You are centrally located and all of the spots are well kept and up to date.

We camped in a tent in site 1309 in the Foxfire Forest section in Feb 2019. The whole section was empty (water didn't work but electricity did) which made it so private and peaceful. The specific tent sites were partially flooded out so we drove around looking for the perfect spot and we found it in 1309 which is a corner spot. There was a ditch behind the campsites throughout that section that seems like it collects rainwater so that it doesn't pool in the sites. The bathhouse was not open in that section so we had to walk a ways to get to an open one but it was worth it for the privacy. The planes are extremely loud but we loved hearing and watching them. We got to see several oppossums around our site as well as a pack of coyotes. Firewood was around $5 a bundle but there were tons of downed trees and branches around our site I guess probably because it was a closed section. There are no fire rings, you just make your own on the ground. We didn't park at the hotel lot by the beach but chose to pay to park at 31 Ocean parking garage since it was closer to the heart of the boardwalk. It was very nice of the front office to let us stay several hours beyond checkout time. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely come back again. It was so peaceful we felt like we were the only ones in the whole park!

The sounds of freedom are loud at times during the day aka fighter jets otherwise nice park they keep the noise down after 11 and very quiet during the week very close to beach and they HAVE their own BEACH parking lot which saves you parking fees when going to the beach just ask for location at office when you check in

I had to cancel my reservation here because of COVID-19. I have also lost my job. I asked for leniency under this conditions as I almost NEVER will cancel a reservation. I have had to cancel others for the same reason and have had nothing more than a $5 charge. This place had no mercy and charge a ridiculous $20. Would never book here again.

Unless you’re in one of their supersites at almost $100 a night, don’t waste your money staying here -the park is a dump! The sites are not maintained: little to no gravel in the sites; weeds, not grass, that is not cut; trash left in sites to include mine; worn picnic tables; and lots of mud when it rains. I complained to the manager and all they’ve done in 3 days is to put a better picnic table in my site. As soon as the payment posts to AMEX, I will be filing a claim to recoup some of my money due to poor conditions and service.

I would like to start off by saying we are not overly particular with unrealistic expectations of a Campground/Resort. This Park is in the Heart of Virginia Beach and has a great parking lot on the ocean front for its visitors, which will save you $$$. If you are looking for a relaxing park this is not it. Lots going on and people love their golf carts and music. It has a reputation of being a big party on the weekends and from what we saw that is true. Even though people liked to party we did not find it too loud, rowdy, or disruptive. In fact we enjoyed walking around at night, enjoying all the lights, sights, and sounds. We stayed through Labor Day and while it was packed, everyone seemed to get along and had a great time. During the week the park was quite and rarely did you hear a noise after 9pm. Three of the four pools were open and really nice. The mini golf course was well kept and for $3.00 a person well worth it. The showers were for the most part clean and in good repair, except for on the really busy weekends. The laundry is big and reasonably priced and we never had to wait for a machine. The camp store was also really well stocked and had everything you could need including alcohol. While the Cafe was closed, it did open on Friday and Saturday to serve ice cream. Staff was helpful and friendly helping us move to a bigger site when the one we were assigned proved to be too small. If you use Verizon we had only had two bars which was not enough for me to work on. Our AT&T was stronger at 4 bars and was our go to. One item that surprised us was that they did not have fire pits on site. You had to rent them. If you didn't want to rent one it was fine to burn a fire on the ground anywhere you wanted on your site.
