World-renowned Mount Trashmore Park encompasses 165 acres and is comprised of two man-made mountains, two lakes, two playgrounds, a skate park and vert ramp, and multi-use paths. The main mountain, Mount Trashmore, now 60 feet in height and 800 feet long, was created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil. Recognized for its environmental feat, this former land fill features a water-wise garden that boasts xeriscaping which requires minimal water. The park also features a smaller mountain, Encore Hill, and two lakes. Lake Windsor (located along South Blvd.) is brackish water fed by Thalia Creek. Lake Trashmore (located along Edwin Drive) is freshwater and hosts various species of fish. Fishing is permitted from land only and requires a Virginia freshwater fishing license. Fishers must adhere to all State regulations regarding creel and size limits. No boats, swimming or wading is allowed in the lakes.

Great place to get some fresh air and walk around a 2.5 mile path around the pond. Kiddie play area and take the stairs to the top of the "mountain" in the middle. Summer is good for kites!

This place was great the playground was amazing nice rubber flooring. The hill was perfect for flying our kite. It was an amazing stop on our trip to stretch our legs. There was ample parking.

Mount Trashmore Park is a breath of fresh air... that may sound crazy being it was formally a land fill, but in reality, it is! These days with technology at children's fingertips (literally tapping away), it's a magical moment to witness them enjoying the outdoors. Mt.Trashmore is the place to experience this kind of magic with kids flying kites along the hills, on the playground swinging away in attempt to reach the moon and showing off their latest tricks in the skate park.

Even more, it's just as fun for adults.. take a stroll around the lakes and up the hills. Afterwards make use of the picnic area to grill up your finest fillet before taking your kite to the hill top!
