Reviews
This rest stop is located on US hwy 6 about 24 miles east of Tonopah, Nv. Very nice rest area that does not allow Truckers. Very little traffic on this Sunday in early April. No Verizon cell. Vault toilets, no water. Nice picnic tables and trash cans.
There are no signs with the rest stop name and no indication of length of stay rules.
The good:
Parking area evolved from a gravel rest area. Fenced in to keep the critters out. Park where you like some tables, trash cans. Level. Beautiful scenery. Flat scrub around the lot with mountains further back. We saw sheep in the mountainside, horses in the distance quite a few times and a pronghorn antelope which wanders around on the other side of the fence. Lots of Jackrabbits, bunnies and a few coyotes. It's open range and the livestock belongs to a local rancher. There is also a well maintained dirt road which does back quite a few miles. There are spaces back there too.
The Bad:
There is more traffic on rt6 than there used to be but not bad really. A number of people stop to use the bathrooms. The lot next to it is for trucks so you may hear one or two.
There are an awful lot if flies which seem worst near the bathroom. T mobil signal will give you voice but probably not internet.
The Ugly:
The pit toilets. They are cleaned but bot the inside surfaces of the pedestals which are splattered, to put it mildly. The flies are bad in the area and I suspect they come from the toilets which are nearly full. We sprayed a can of Yard Guard down the toilets to kill some flies and fogged the area.

this is one of the quietest places i’ve ever been... only the occasional car on hwy 6. peaceful, clean, a free shade trees and picnic tables. the restrooms were clean and fly free in June. the biggest bonus — with absolutely zero light pollution, the dark sky allowed me to see so many stars... spectacular!
no cell service (maybe this is a positive?)
this spot broke my drive between Yosemite and Great Basin National Park. It was clean, convenient, had a free shade trees, clean bathrooms (no flies), trash cans and no large trucks allowed. this was one of the quietest places i’ve ever been... only the occasional car or truck, but almost none at night. plus the skies were very dark at night, so you can easily see the milky way!
I arrived after dark. Easy to find place to park. Clean restrooms stocked with toilet paper.
I was driving my 25’ Motorhome from Death Valley NP to Great Basin NP but could not make it all the way so spent a night here. There was a group of 5-7 RVs camped here: most were together. Felt very secure with the larger presence. No one running AC or generator so very quiet so far.
