“the longest swinging bridge east of the mississippi”
'At 265 feet in length, this is supposedly the longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River. I say “supposedly” again, because I have crossed other swinging bridges in North Carolina and Florida, and this one doesn’t appear to be any longer than the others, but perhaps it is. The views of the Toccoa River and surrounding mountains are spectacular, but my favorite scenic spot was located across the bridge on the opposite bank where a creek with small waterfalls flowed into the river.' -BackroadPlanet http://backroadplanet.com/toccoa-river-swinging-bridge/
The views from the bridge are fabulous, and this is one of those hikes you can take the whole family on, since it’s so short and easy to hike. But brace for a nerve wracking drive down the road to get there. It should relieve you to know it definitely felt quicker driving back out!
We think hiking to the swinging bridge is one of the best hikes in the Blue Ridge area!
