The Penn Stroud, Stroudsburg - Poconos, Ascend Hotel Collection

This was our last stop on our return trip home. It won't have been, but my wife got sick and she had to call her doctor, get med's which forced us to stay in a hotel for the night so the med's could do there thing. I should point out, my wife is terminally ill, so travel can be fun, interesting and a bit stressful at time, but always worth the trip … always.

Ok so as for the hotel, I went in to check to see if they had any rooms and the rates. Normally the cost isn't an issue, but this was another total right downtown, even closer than the Historic Inn of Annapolis, MD, which was last nights hotel, (ONLY because we stop at places that general by nature are reasonable). So, the man at the front desk gave me a price, ($250.00) which seemed expensive, so I went out and told my wife, she was already not feeling well and said "I can't drive around looking for a reasonable place, go in a get a room. Weill I decided to check online (via our trusty iPad), and the price there was $89.00 plus taxes, and I was pretty damn sure there wasn't going to be $150.00 dollars in taxes so, I booked online, got the confirmation number, went back inside, took the room. Now when I gave him the reservation number, he didn't know what to say (which included, not saying anything about the price he gave me 10 minutes earlier).

The stay, room and accommodations, were fine. To those who haven't traveled yet since COVID has changed things, get ready for NO service or little service. Rooms are not cleaned if you stay more then one night, and some items are not in all rooms.

Ok so after checking in, finding out where I had to go get her med's, getting her med's and her relaxing for a bit, she wanted to check out the downtown area. MUCH bigger than we expected. As downtowns go, one of the biggest (for a small town) and not to many empty store fronts. It is about 3-5 blocks long, with plenty of shops on both sides, as well as plenty of eateries, pubs, coffee shops and more.
