Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on October 21, 2023It was getting late, so we checked the app at the gas station on the interstate and saw that it was 7 miles down the road. We saw the other reviews and saw that it was free and had power and water! The 2 spots were both coverered in a foot and a half of snow. A cop stopped by asked us if we were stuck, said it was fine for us to pull through. Thankful for the electricity because it got down to 17F, so we ran a small electric heater. The water was on. There is a bath house by the pool, but it was locked. Other than the officer we didn’t see anyone else in the park.

This pad was surprisingly perfect. It's in a public town park, with off a secondary highway. It was exposed, but I felt safe. The town layed out free kiln dried firewood and newspaper to light a fire, there is potable water, an humble toilet, and a free hot shower. there is also a simple diner a couple hundred yards away. Kind of amazing... Thanks to the town of Stickney.

Cute, well maintained park in the little town of Stickney. There are two spots, they were both very level and had just enough room to accommodate our 30ft bumper pull and truck with the truck parked slightly diagonal. The both have 30amp service and one water spigot you would have to share but we were the only ones there this time.
There are 3 driveways into the park, we took the first one in but the center one located next to a little memorial wall is the one that leads directly to the camp spots. The spots are at the south end of the football field, between the field and park. There is no fee but they do have a donation box out and a paper saying the proceeds go towards new playground equipment.
We also got milkshakes at the little diner just across the parking lot which were delicious:)

Such a beautiful and quiet city! Well maintained city park and was super quiet. We had excellent AT&T service and no problems at all. We would definitely camp here again for an overnight stay. Thank you Stickney.

We didn’t realize that ALL SD rest stops only give travelers 3 hours before it’s considered “illegal” or “camping”, so we chose this place out of desperation. However, it was 100% free AND had electric hookups for us. This spot is amazing and better than some of the $50 sites we’ve stayed at. Without a doubt we will “boondock” here any time we’re passing through SD.

Stayed two nights, and really enjoyed the electric hookup as it has been raining for days, had little charge left in my solar system and it was 40F at night. Bathrooms and a single shower in each of the bathrooms. Unfortunately the only choice for water temperature was hot, and it was very hot in the MENS. Lovely town with two antique stores ( not open) a diner, post office, lumber/ hardware, and grocery store. Also a gas station with good prices. I have Google Fi and had good cell signal.

When you arrive in the city of Stickney it’s right in the middle of the town. You will see the memorial and the sites are visible from the road. This park has a baseball field, track, swimming pool, playground, picnic benches, volleyball court and tennis courts. The sites are level and there is electricity and a water spigot, no sewer, there is a dumpster. Fairly shaded and quiet. Easy on and off location. Very clean as well. Our 36’ class A fit well. We had 4 bars with Verizon we do have a booster.

Each site has 30AMP electricity and shared water behind campsite #1. You'll need 50-75 feet of hose to get water to site #2. Both sites are about 50 foot deep and very level gravel pads.
UPDATE: There are actually 2 more 30AMP outlets here in the park if you don't mind parking on the grass. Both were in use on Saturday night while we were here, but you'll need extra cord to reach.
