In between freeway and train tracks, so there’s a constant hum of traffic but it was a good place to spend the night. Picnic tables, fire pits and pit toilets. There’s also a recreation area by the river.

Stopped here, SLOWAY campground, to rest for the night. 2.6 miles off freeway exit westbound. It was the last night before the park closed for the season (Sept 27). Only two other campers in the campground. Nice setting on the Clark Fork. Lots of freeway noise. Trains going by throughout the night across the river but otherwise nice spot. 7 pull thru campsites. No Hookups.

This location is right off the highway… Close enough that cars can be heard, but still reasonably quiet. Heavily wooded and very close to water. We were in a 30’ Class C rig hauling a 20’ trailer, and had no problem finding several suitable and vacant pull-through spaces. The water is accessible after a short walk. Word to the wise; there are some very visible and easily accessible pull-through spots, which you will be directed to via signage. But they are not the only pull-through sites! There are several more along the alternate loop, so be sure and scout the entire campgrounds before choosing a spot.

RV section of campground has long pull throughs. Some not real level but workable. Site 7 had a very long pull through (my rig is a 36' RV with tow vehicle and had plenty of room). A tight turn through the trees at one point but managed okay. The "tent" loop can also be used by RV's and some sites are very large and generally level. Did have an issue with barking dogs but camp host tended to it. Good folks. Even had free firewood, 5 pieces per night per site. Although was stinking hot and no fire was needed or wanted. Lots of trees. No cell service. Easy to access from I-90. Did get interstate noise but not that noticeable at night, traffic isn't that heavy. The train passed by a number of time and felt need to blow their horn, even though they are on the opposite side of the Clark Fork River. Go figure.

Easy to find and smooth roads. Pull through 4 is to tight for long rigs if 7 is filled you might be stuck between trees. Fortunately for me 7 was empty or I would have been trying to back out of a tight spot.
Road noise is present but not terrible.

Easy to find and a well maintained park nestled between I-90 and the Clark Fork. Stayed at pull through site #5 which was right on the river. Lots of float tubers and paddle boards navigating the river provided some entertainment. A weeknight and maybe 20% of the sites were occupied. We were worried about I-90 road noise, but during the night it wasn't a problem. However, the Choo-Choo on the other side of the river was sleep depriving with 5 trains passing and whistling through during the night. We chalked it up as another streaming experience....

Beautiful and secluded a long the Clark Fork river in St. Regis MT! Camp spots are not numbered. Tucked along the MT 135… about 10 miles east of St. Regis. This was probably one of the best free camping spots we’ve ever had.
Has porta potty’s and some cell service. We would’ve stayed longer but we got rained on and are heading home to Oregon.

This is a very nicely maintained national forest service campground. Why would people think this is free? It's clearly marked at the entrance $14/night.
We pulled in while traveling through on Friday of labor day weekend. RVs all over the highway, but this place still had 5 open RV sites at 5pm. Most did fill up. Trains did come through the town across the river and have to blow their horn for a crossing. It's the loudest train whistle we've ever slept next to but didn't wake our 4 kids.
Camp host was super nice. Simple payment drop box like you would expect from a forest service campground.
Most sites had big rigs. Our 40ft bumper pull fit nicely.
