The overlook here at the adjacent tourist center is pretty good. There is a great popcorn truck at the bottom of the hill. Also, don't miss Swannanoa. It's just around the corner and incredible.
I love the Inn at Afton. It was once a cutting edge mid-century modern mountaintop resort, and it's hardly been touched since its glory days. It's not in great shape, but for fans of modern architecture it's well worth a stop.
