“with a large collection of Pennsylvania Dutch Hex signs”
We also carry other merchandise related to the German-speaking immigrants (German, Swiss, and some German-speaking dialects, including the Alsatians and Lorrainers), and the unique culture that developed from those immigrants, locally known as the Pennsylvania Dutch. The Pennsylvania Dutch Gift Haus has been at our location in Shartlesville, PA for over 50 years, alongside Roadside America. Both Roadside America and the Pennsylvania Dutch Gift Haus were founded and built by Laurence Gieringer at our current location in 1953, and are both still owned and operated by his family. Our family is in touch with the local Dutch community, and always searching for new crafts and memorabilia. We are proud to offer real customer service, and make an effort to keep contact until your questions are answered.
What a great stop! This shop is one of the few around that carries hex signs and other fun novelties. But what is really a treat is the miniature village next door (owned by the same family). What lies behind the doors is an incredible sight. An entire room FILLED with a miniature village, with multiple trains, trolleys, and interactive pieces. Take your time and use the brochure guide-the amount of detail is incredible. Be sure to talk to the employees as well-this is a family owned business and they are proud to share the story of how this all came to be. This is a must see!
Cute little place. Very friendly lady behind the counter sold me two Cannular bulbs yanked out of someone's garden! the place is full of hex signs and folksy Amish-type bits and pieces. My favorite get: a graduation card that cost $1. It's about 20 years old and was in a stack of great old unused cards. Note: only purchase and give to someone who would appreciate the humor! Right off the highway and worth a stop if only for the giant Amish couple waving hello!
