Tons of things for kids to do. They are clearly catering to families and return visitors who probably live in the area and come back every summer.
The cons: Staff doesn't maintain sites well. There was trash (candy wrappers and wadded up paper towels) in my site, cobwebs on the power poles, cables coming out of the ground because they're not buried properly, and trees that need to be trimmed.
There are a lot of permanent residents here. They keep their spaces clean. This is a huge park. It's probably 1/2 mile to walk from the back to the front. A lot of the amenities are the front. The laundry, shower house etc. So that can be rather inconvenient.
The drive inside the campground was tight with bad gravel/slate roads and very forested. I would not want to bring a nicely painted 42 ft motorhome through here. This place is not big rig friendly, or medium rig friendly really. I think a lot could be done with this park if they just maintained it more. At $64/night for a weekly rate, it was pretty expensive.
When I checked in they were out of maps and couldn't seem to get anything printed for me since they were having issues with the printer, so I never did get the wifi password or a park map. I can't tell you how wifi worked but the cell hotspot reception for both ATT (12d/l) and Verizon (5 d/l) was good unboosted. I don't think I would stay here again simply for the bad driving conditions through the park.

We stopped for a night passing through the area. Our camp site was very private with a rock ledge beside our camper and trees all around. The site was also large.
The kids liked feeding the ducks. There are paddle bots, bounce house, playgrounds, and an RC car race track.

Rip Van Winkle is a beautiful campground, it’s well run, well maintained, and has a lot to do! I was a little skeptical that we wouldn’t get to choose our site, but you can’t go wrong, they are all wooded, private and well situated. The campground is centrally located you many things to do. Minnewaska state park was gorgeous, and the hikes around Kaaterskill as well. The creek on the property (Plattekill) is great, the pond is fun to fish in, the RC track is great for those who are into it, laundry facilities are efficient, full hookups are the cherry on top. Highly recommend.

Sites are wooded and somewhat private. Staff was very friendly. We paid $65 with Good Sam. Only reason we came is for a shakedown trip before our spring trip. If I could have stayed elsewhere for less I would have but SPs are closed. We’d probably do a shakedown trip here again. I wouldn’t come back for a different reason but we also don’t care about amenities.
They had a pool and lots of things for kids to do.

Large campground with good spacing between sites. Heavily wooded with little sunshine makes it a 4 star for me. Nice stream at base of the camp. Multiple very well maintained playgrounds. Activities for all.
Nice staff. Did not use the pool though it seemed small for such a large complex. Showers were only available at the main entrance though it was a large site. There were bathrooms throughout the grounds that were immaculate. We camped very early in the season. Not much for food shopping near the campground. WIFI was good. Our cable connection was not.

First of it. Is next to impossible to get someone on the phone and they never returned my call via voicemail. Not a good start, but there were good reviews, so I proceeded to book it. Upon arrival there is really no place to pull in and unhook your tow vehicle. The main area was once pavement but now is broken down into potholes and pavement pieces. Navigating to the site is between tall pines and is really too narrow for a big RV. If they did some major trimming back of trees and limbs it would be fine and look nicer. The site we had was good size and FHU. The trees add to the privacy between sites. The seasonal sites are very cluttered. They have a hayride for families and it looked super cute!

We stayed 2 nights here primarily because it is very kid centered. The fun zones seemed pretty dated however and really need a major refresh. The R/C track was a huge hit, but again, a little shabby. Sites were very wooded, muddy, spaced out fine, and level. Overall it was a decent campground, but overpriced in my opinion for the quality.

Stayed for one night. Huge campground with not many people. I saw complaints about permanents but they were off to the sides and in no way a hinderance. Immaculate bath house. Would have liked to spend more time here.
Perfect campground, clean and safe. We arrived late due to traffic along the Interstate and they stayed up really late to make sure we were all set up.
Lovely campsite with trails, lots of play areas for kids and a gorgeous stream running through the property.
