“a modern country escape in the Catskills”
Built in 1929, the Villa is special for a number of reasons. The most obvious is its Mediterranean design—a unique choice for the original owners, who seemed little influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement of the period. When the house was sold in the 1960's to a prominent wildlife artist, he embellished the property with stone footpaths, fruit trees, flowers and edible herbs. The result is a feast for the eyes that renders the home as much Tuscan villa as Catskills farmhouse. In addition to four guest suites, the charming, two-story B&B and rental home features common spaces that forego typical Victorian decor, in favor of 20th Century Modern furniture and artwork by photographers Maxine Kim and Brett Cala, and original tar & oil paintings by artist, Richard Nocera. Books and board games are plentiful too, so pull up a seat and start loafing... ...Or start fantasizing about tomorrow's breakfast. A typical day starts with an eclectic country spread. Some mornings it's fluffy herb-scrambled eggs or pancakes with fresh berries that grace the dining room tables; other days it's swiss omelettes with chives and cherry tomatoes—the line-up is always changing. The Villa's guest rooms are tastefully decorated with individual style. All quarters are equipped with air conditioning, satellite television, wireless internet, a newly renovated private bathroom and a plush queen-size bed dressed in 350-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets....so shouldn't you be packing? We look forward to seeing you in the Catskills.
Never thought that we'd find a villa as pretty as this one. My boyfriend and I stayed two nights here during our trip in the Catskills. The whole place is simply gorgeous. I would like to mention Aimee, a very sweet lady, who warmly welcomed us when we arrived. She nicely showed us the lovely house and walked us to our modern, inviting and comfy room. Ours had a back door which led us to the pool. We enjoyed swimming here as it was a really quiet and serene spot. We were also awed by the artworks hanging around the place which turned out to be made by the owner of the villa, Richard. Breakfast was really delicious! The smell of bacon being cooked was just perfect to start our day with.
