“The story of the most inspiring girl in history”
The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust is sponsoring on behalf of the state the internationally acclaimed, award-winning exhibition Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945. Using over 600 photographs and 8,000 words of text, this exhibition tells the story of Anne Frank and her family, following them from freedom in 1920's Germany then subsequent exile in the Netherlands following Adolph Hitler's rise to power, to hiding in a secret annex above her father's business in Amsterdam, and finally, to death in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Following Anne and her family against the background of the events that culminated in World War II, the occupation of the Netherlands and the judgments of the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg, the exhibition enables visitors of all ages to witness the horrors of the past and experience the hope for the future. The exhibit makes clear the terrible costs that unbridled prejudice, hatred and discrimination can impose upon a nation and its people. The exhibit promotes the legacy of Anne Frank's message which is that even a small number of people can bring about great changes when they embrace tolerance, promote diversity, and persist in seeing the goodness in humanity.
