“brings you back to 1692”
The Salem Witch Museum brings you back to 1692 Salem. Experience the drama of history in life-size stage sets, figures, lighting and a stirring narration. Live guides take you through changing interpretations of witches, the truth behind the stereotypes, witchcraft practice today and the frightening phenomenon of witch hunting.
Not worth the money. $15 entrance fee to go into one room and listen to one story dragged out for 40 mins. Then a second room that has the history just written on the walls no props, no items to view, nothing. when I think of a museum I think of walking around seeing items that pertain to it and there was nothing to see just one room with statues that were 10 ft above the ground so you couldn’t see them up close anyway. No to mention the shuttle you in there with 50 people into one crowded room. Waste of time. But the town is awesome !
So one of the least "museumy" museums I've ever been to. I recommend getting tickets in advance as there were lines on the monday we went. They put you in groups where you sit in an auditorium and around you are little informative vignettes which tell the story of the Salem Witch Trials etc. Then you go as a group to another area and see a time line of witches vs modern history and a couple more vignettes. Overall I liked it and found it informative but it wasn't a traditional, go at your own pace, look at stuff on the walls museum.
