Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 27, 2023We stayed here with another family for a baseball tournament in Cloquet. The campground didn’t have any “WOW!” factors but it also didn’t have any “Yuck!” factors either. The bathroom/shower house was older but clean and kept up. There is pay laundry on site as well. The available sites, there’s a lot of seasonal sites here, were pull through with power and water. It’s 10 miles from Cloquet and 15 from Duluth. Highway 2 borders on two sides and has a lot of semi traffic and a busy railroad track on another. I would’nt stay here to relax but it’s a great base camp to see Duluth and Jay Cooke State Park.

It was convenient for the things we needed to get done in the area. It is an average campground, clean and neat. Be aware that it has trains that run all the time round the clock in the back and the highway is in the front so it's not terribly quiet. We had water & electric and there is a dump station.

Stayed at Saginaw one night on our way to Silver Bay. It’s convenient and easy access from the road. Sites are well spaced. Very clean and nicely kept campground. Quite loud due to proximity to highway intersection.

This campground added 15-20 more back-in sites during the summer of 2021 and plans to build more in the next year. Quite a few seasonal campers, as I was for the first time this year. Regardless, there are plenty of spots for people passing through, but I recommend making a reservation. Most campgrounds in the Duluth area are full all summer. Sites are extremely level. I didn't need to adjust a thing. Most of the seasonal campers are workers who are gone all day and most weekends. There are a lot of trains but all but one pass through quietly. One train is required to blow the horn before it crosses a road about 2 miles down the tracks. After a night or two, the trains became white noise and I never noticed them. Some trucks do use engine breaking on the highways, which is annoying, but it's intermittent. This campground has shower stalls (2 for women, 2 for men) and two pairs of washer/dryers in a community room. All are newer and clean. There are no playgrounds or family-oriented activities. Management is mostly hands off, which suits me to a tee. I'll be back next year. There are several wi-fi hookups in the park and I had no problems during the nearly 6 months I stayed there. Some sites have trees, others don't. The park is about 15 minutes from Duluth and Cloquet. Saginaw post office is half a mile down the road and there's a restaurant/bar across the street. Gas station/convenience store a couple miles away.

I agree with the earlier review of the campground, "The campground didn’t have any 'WOW!' factors but it also didn’t have any 'Yuck!' factors either." It is a basic campground that meets the needs. The facilities are well maintained, and the grounds are maintained, but nothing spectacular. Easy and quick drive to Duluth. There is some noise from trains, but we barely noticed.
