“certified by the Guinness Book of World Records”
Catch up on the history of Sac City by viewing costumes; displays of historical items; farm tools and equipment. The village includes country store; doctor's office; post office; hardware store; church; telephone office; alumni hall; drug store; farm store; and country school. See the record-setting popcorn ball; built in February 2009; weighing 5;000 pounds and standing more than eight feet tall.
In 2009, the good people of Sac City built the more than 5,000-pound popcorn ball using 900 pounds of popcorn combined with a sickening amount of sugar and dry syrup. It took them more than 12 hours and the ball stands at just over eight feet tall.
While that all sounds—and looks—pretty unappetizing, the popcorn ball is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records and is definitely worth a visit if you happen to be passing through.
